At BJP event, women resolve to send 2 lakh rakhis to CM

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) city unit, on Thursday, organised a women’s meet at Shikshak Sahakari Bank Hall, Gandhi Sagar. The women office-bearers and workers of the party resolved to collect and send two lakh rakhis to Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’.

The women workers stated that they would send the rakhis to Fadnavis as a mark of gratitude towards him for ushering in fast-paced development in his tenure of five years as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. They were responding to the appeal of Pravin Datke, BJP city chief and former Mayor. Addressing the gathering, Datke urged the women office-bearers and workers to collect at least 100 ‘Raksha Sutra’ from each booth in Nagpur city, and at least 35,000 rakhis from each of six constituencies of State Legislative Assembly in the city. Two lakh rakhis should be sent to Fadnavis, he said.
 
Sudhakar Deshmukh, Dr Milind Mane, Vikas Kumbhare, all of them MLAs; Nanda Jichkar, Mayor; Archana Dehankar and Dr Kalpana Pande, both former Mayors; Sandeep Jadhav, former Deputy Mayor; Dr Kirtida Ajmera, President of women’s cell unit of BJP; Manisha Kashikar, Convener of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Committee, were present prominently.
 
Sudhakar Deshmukh launched the membership drive through mobile phone application. Dr Ajmera asked the women workers to switch on the torch on their mobile phones as mark of acquiring membership of the party. Jichkar and Dehankar appealed to the workers to reach out to households in the city and enlighten people on various Government schemes and BJP membership drive.
 
Bhojraj Dumbe, Neeta Thakre, Nilima Bawane, Sandhya Thakre, Lata Yerkhede, Sarika Nandurkar, Ansuya Gupta, Priti Rajdidkar, Mangala Gotmare, Nisha Bhoyar, Kalpana Pazare, Anita Kashikar, Maya Thawali, Vandana Sharma, Divya Dhurde, Varsha Thakre, Chetana Tank and others also shared the dais on the occasion. Yerkhede conducted the proceedings while Seema Dhomne proposed a vote of thanks.
