Heavy rainfall warning in several parts of State

MUCH-awaited rainfall brought smiles on faces of denizens in the State capital. Though rain showers were not consistent but heavy downpour was witnessed in some areas mainly during intervening night of July 27 and 28 in morning hours. Though, low-lying areas witnessed water-logging and some areas also reported power outage and felling of trees. Bhopal recorded 121 mm rainfall. In last 24 hours, rainfall was witnessed in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Sagar, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Rewa and Hoshangabad and Chambal division. Rainfall recorded at Nasurllahganj at 21 mm, Gharot at 20 mm, Shajapur at 19 mm, Ichhawar , Athner at 14 mm, Bhopal at 12 mm, Hoshangabad, Nalkheda at 11 mm and Saragpur, Sehore at 10 mm.
 
Heavy rainfall warning has been issued at many places including Mandla, Jabalpur, Vidisha, Anuppur, Damoh, Rajgarh, Ashoknagar and Sagar.
 
Maximum temperature recorded in Bhopal was 25 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius. Wind velocity recorded was at 22 kms per hour.
 
Sunday morning started with drizzling in major parts of the city which continued till noon. Water-logging was witnessed at some places due to continuous rain during wee hours during intervening night between July 26 and July 27. Bhopal recorded 9.5 mm rainfall. Maximum temperature recorded was 29 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was 23 degrees Celsius. Wind velocity recorded was at 18 kms per hour.
 
Heavy downpour in Rajgarh district led to flood-like situation and locals rescued few people on time. In Shajapur, Kokarkalan village also witnessed flood-like situation. NDRF 30 member team from Bhopal reached Shajapur and rescued 16 people, including two women and children, who were stranded in village due to flood. Due to rains since last two days in western and southern Madhya Pradesh, normal life was thrown out of gear. According to Meteorological Department, in last 24 hours, rainfall recorded 200 mm in Gurnoth (Mandsaur), 190 mm in Shujalpur, 177 mm in Shajapur, 175 mm in Ashta, 136 in Athner (Betul), 106 mm in Hoshangabad and 90 mm in Mandsaur. The Weather Department has forecast possibility of heavy rains in most of the districts in next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in around 19 districts of the State. Meteorological Department stated that there is a low pressure belt on northern Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand, which has brought good rains in MP. Besides, there are rains in Malwa-Nimad, Vindhya, Bundelkhand, Gwalior-Chambal, Mahakaushal and districts of Bhopal division. There is a possibility of a low pressure area formation in Bay of Bengal by July 31 which can further intensify rains in most cities of Madhya Pradesh in coming two to three days.
