Grahak Panchayat to launch drive against misleading advertisements

AKHIL Bharatiya Grahak Kalyan Parishad (All India Consumer Welfare Council) recently organised its national conclave at Agrasen Bhavan, Ravi Nagar . Prakash Mehadia, All India President, Dr Anant Sharma from Jaipur, Advocate Jagdish Shukla from Consumer Confederation, Advocate B G Kulkarni, Devendra Tiwari, National General Secretary, Ashwin Mehadia, President of Nagpur District and Pratap Motwani, Secretary of Nagpur District addressed the conclave.
The conclave was attended by more than 200 representatives from all over the country. Prakash Mehadia in his address urged the companies to stop misleading of consumers through fake advertisement. “We will launch a massive drive against the misleading advertisements throughout the country,” he said. Mehadia also elaborated how a vigilant consumers should take precautions when they are cheated by companies. “We should reach out to consumers and explain their rights. We should also tell them how approach the concern authorities when they are cheated,” he said. Devendra Tiwari explained in detail about the weight and measures law. He underscored the need to strengthen organisation throughout the country. “It is necessary for us to fight against the wrong delivery by the on-line marketing companies. On several occasions consumers are befooled by companies.
There is a huge difference on what they showcase and what they deliver,” he said. Tiwari also urged the delegates to gain the confidence of consumers by taking prompt action when required. Pratap Motwani said, “It is the need of the hour to unite and work of consumer’s interest. N Mahurkar from Mumbai spoke about weight and measurement and adulteration along with Ramesh Lalwani and Madhuri Kedar. Other speakers also expressed their views about the consumer protection rules and the work done by the Council. All agreed to the suggestion of Prakash Mehadia..
Prominently present were Priti Joshi, President Gujarat Consumer Forum, Vijendra Halbal from Fulera, Jaipur, Rajesh Patel from Gandhi Nagar, R Rajalaxmi from Kerala, Ramesh Reddy, V Karnakar from Andhra Pradesh, Dr Sudhakar, N Rajshree from Hyderabad. The programme was conducted by Devendra Tiwari while Pratap Motwani proposed the vote of thanks.
