All departments of NU should follow footsteps of UDPS: Dr Deshpande

“The incidence of renovation and inauguration of auditorium in the memory of late Dr A K Dorle, former head of the University Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UDPS), is a landmark in the history of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). It is an inspiring moment and all departments of the university should follow the footsteps of UDPS,” expressed Pro Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU, Dr Vinayak Deshpande on Saturday. Dr Deshpande was delivering a presidential address of the inauguration of Dr Dorle Auditorium renovated from the donations of students and alumni of UDPS. Amrut Nikhade, Joint Commissioner of FDA Mumbai was the chief guest.
 
Founder of Ajanta Pharma and President of UDPS Alumni Association, Purushottam Agrawal; Head of the UDPS, Dr Jasmine Awari; Chairman of Advanced Enzyme Technologies Limited, Vasant Rathi; and son of Dr Dorle, Sandeep Dorle also shared dais. Stating that other departments of RTM Nagpur University were also facing crisis like old buildings, staff crunch, modern facilities, etc., Dr Deshpande said, “The alumni of Department of Pharmaceutical Science with broad heart and a sense of responsibility have taken decision to pay back to alma mater. The collective efforts of students and alumni have created history by developing world class auditorium in university campus.
 
Not only this the association has dug borewell and created facility of rainwater harvesting which has completely solved the problem of water.” Dr Deshpande extended all support on behalf of RTM Nagpur University for the developments and modernisation of UDPS in future. Sharing the quote of Sir Winston Churchill as “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give,” Dr Deshpande appreciated the alumni association by saying, “The association has established a grand relationship and connection with UDPS. It is a generous gesture of revitalising and rebuilding the department. Making things new, the association has honoured the past and made UDPS a star department of RTM Nagpur University.” Amrut Nikhade recalled his memories during his studies in UDPS and said, “With the efforts of alumni association, the department will definitely gain the lost glory and produce personnel needed by advanced pharmaceutical industry.”
 
Purushottam Agrawal stated, “What an alumni association has done is like a Gurudakshina. We all are committed to develop UDPS in such a way that it will produce multiferously equipped pharmacy graduates and post graduates having a blend of knowledge, skills and advanced technology.” Sandeep Dorle recalled memories and devotion of his father Dr A K Dorle for UDPS by saying, “this place was not just a department but a place of worship of my father.” Dr Jasmine Awari delivered a welcome address. Dr P B Khedkar, Dr P M Ballal, Dr Prafull Sable, Ravleen Singh Khurana, Sarang Upaganlawar and Pranay Tidke welcomed the guests. Dr Rita Wadetwar conducted the proceedings and Dr Prakash Itankar proposed a vote of thanks.
