After nomination of Sonia Gandhi as AICC’s interim President, now everyone in Madhya Pradesh Congress is speculating that, new Congress State President could be named anytime. With this, those who are in race for State President’s post have become active once again. Now the State Congress President aspirants are keeping a close eye on each and every move as it is likely that new State Congress chief will be decided by mutual understanding of stalwarts. Air is thick with news that, Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh will have a large say in finalisation of name for State President’s post. The name of Jyotiraditya Scindia is doing the rounds strongly for State President’s post. But, his recent support to Modi Government’s decision to scrap Article 370 from Jammu & Kashmir may sour things for him. If he is not crowned as State President, then his decision in favour of Modi Government’s stand on Kashmir issue would be a major reason behind the development.

Former Leader of Opposition, Ajay Singh is another leader whose name is creating ripples for new State Congress President’s post. After losing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in a row, Ajay Singh is looking for his rehabilitation inside the organisation.

Meanwhile, there is also apprehension that party high command may surprise everyone by declaring a new name for State President’s post. Notably, on the eve of Assembly elections, Kamal Nath was named as State President. Under his guidance, Congress emerged as biggest party and with the help of SP, BSP and Independent MLAs, it even formed the Government. After this, Kamal Nath was unanimously elected as Chief Minister and still, he is handling the Madhya Pradesh Congress President’s post. As his prime focus remains Government, hence Congress organisation activities are taking a hit. However, on couple of occasions, he expressed desire to relinquish the State President post.
