Staff Reporter: “The society has different view of different persons. Therefore every individual appears different to it. Pradnyabharati, however, had skill to work selflessly, without revealing qualities in him. His life is an example of this quality of working without self-projection,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat. Dr Bhagwat was speaking during a programme organised to mark conclusion of birth centenary year of Pradnyabharati Dr Shridhar Bhaskar Varnekar, at Mundle Sabhagruha, on Monday. Swami Govinddevgiri Maharaj, Chandragupta Varnekar and convenor of the programme Arvind Mardikar were present on the dais. ‘Pradnyabharatiyam’, a book was released at the hands of Dr Bhagwat. Dr Bhagwat said that Dr Varnekar led selfless life and never thought of his own benefit out of his work. Despite having incomparable intelligence, he never indulged in getting publicity for him or his work.

He was known for his dedicated work for RSS and intelligence. In 1990 his work Sanskrit Dnyanbhasha Kosh was published by the government. The government had offered Rs 10 lakh for the work, which he refused to accept and called it his service to Sanskrit. Dr Bhagwat said that such values are required to be inculcated among people in the present situation. Even a small portion of his thoughts, lifestyle and qualities could be adopted, it will be a great service to the society, he added. Govinddevgiri Maharaj said that true valuation of Dr Varnekar’s work has still not been done.

The future generation will have to do it. He had qualities and dedication, so that he could have become President of India. Unfortunately he died in a road accident. Earlier discourse by Govinddevgiri Maharaj was held. On behalf of Geeta Pariwar Kaveri Sangamnerkar and group recited 12th chapter of Geeta. Chandragupta Varnekar honoured the guests by offering shawl, shreefal. A CD prepared by Sanskar Bharati titled ‘Teerthabharatadnyak’ was released. Publisher of the book Anand Limaye was honoured on the occasion.
