Two men trapped in Kerwa dam, rescued

Both the men trapped in Kerwa dam after water was released from two gates on Monday.

Two men, who had gone for fishing at Kerwa dam, were trapped when its gates were opened leading to sudden rise in water-level and were later rescued by team of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Ratibad police personnel on Monday. According to police, both the men identified as Kanji and Shiva, both are residents of Sarotipura village in Ratibad area. Shiva is brother-in-law of Kanji and on Monday morning both of them had gone to Kerwa dam for fishing. In the meantime around 11am, two gates of Kerwa dam were opened which lead to sudden rise in water level.
 
The other people who were present at the dam moved to safe place in quick time but Kanji and Shiva were trapped here. Later police were informed regarding the incident after which police personnel and a team of civic body reached the spot and which the help of ladders and rope, they were rescued safely within an hour. Meanwhile, two youths have drowned in Halali Dam, 42km away from the State capital under Karariya police station in Vidisha District on Sunday. Halali Dam is located in ourt skirt of Bhopal but it’s a part falls under jurisdiction of Salamatpur, Raisen while other part falls under jurisdiction of Karariya police station of Vidisha district. Tragedy happened at Karariya police station of Vidisha district.
 
SHO (Karariya) Archna Singh said, “Two youths Bunty and Faizal in their mid 20s of Chhola Mandir, had come here for picnic. On Sunday evening, they drowned while taking bath here. Salamatpur police reached first and they informed us. We reached the spot. Bunty was rescue a live and rushed to Hamidia Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Besides, body of Faisal has been fished out on Monday. They were drivers and had come with family for picnic.”
