Santosh Pandey accuses Govt of violating democratic values

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey accused Congress Government of violating democratic values by setting a very disturbing and condemnable trend after his public programme was disrupted by the Rajnandgaon District Administration, which now holds the authority of deciding on the names of guests for any events involving inauguration, dedication or bhoomipujan of public projects.

In a press conference, Pandey stated that Police even seized the tents installed for the inauguration function. This is first such instance in Chhattisgarh when a Collector has arbitrarily decided to stop all new inauguration, dedication or bhoomipujan without the permission and even taken up the authority to decide who will do the inauguration.

The Government officials must not get involved in politics and maintain a neutral position. If they really want to get involved in politics, they better resign from their posts and fight the election. After the incident, the Sarpanchs of villages which invited him have been harassed while the Secretaries have been suspended. Such actions are unconstitutional and goes against the spirit of democracy.
