KVIC should adopt technology to promote its activities: Dr Thorat

Business Bureau : One day workshop on ‘Khadi Mark’ was organised by Divisional Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Nagpur recently at Hotel Tuli Imperial Ramdaspeth, Nagpur. Dr C S Thorat, Principal, Govt Polytechnic, was the chief guest of the inaugural function while Satish Dhoke, Principal, Mother Teresa College of Social Welfare presided over the function. S G Hedaoo, Deputy CEO (WZ), KVIC, Ahmedabad, Geet Goswami, Direcor (CCC), KVIC, Mumbai and Dr C P Kapse, Divisional Director, KVIC, Nagpur, were among the prominent persons present on the occasion. In his keynote address, Dr Thorat explained the importance of communication in life.
 
He lamented that the innovations taking place in different fields are not communicated to the society. KVIC should adopt technology innovation to improve and promote its activities. Dhoke while referring to the Swadeshi Movement of Gandhiji in his talk said that Khadi products are in great demand. KVIC should help society to develop cluster to help the agriculture based society, he added. Dr Kapse in his introductory remarks highlighted the objectives of Khadi workshop. He said that KVIC is a vibrant organisation which is helping in the development of rural India. KVIC is training rural youth thereby helping them to establish cottage industries. He appealed to all present to purchase genuine Khadi products only. Also he stressed that Khadi mark must be ascertained before purchases.
 
Hedaoo made all audience members aware about the importance and utility of Khadi products. In post lunch technical session Geet Goswami elaborated on the procedure of Khadi Mark and how to obtain the Khadi mark. Ashok Dhongadi and Vijay Ghodpage officers from Textile Committee explained the steps to be taken in issuing the Khadi Mark and also explained the multiple pricing of Khadi. Karun Futane, President, Gram Sewa Mandal, Gopuri, Wardha spoke on development of khadi infrastructure and working of the khadi institution. Dr. Hemant Sonare, Chairman The Textile Association (India) highlighted the concept of new fashion. of khadi fabric and demand for the cloth.
 
A lively question answer session was conducted in which various queries were answered by Dr Kapse and Hedaoo. A large number of textile professionals, fashion designers, faculty members, students, representatives of NGOs, senior khadi promoters attended the programme. Dr Sonare conducted the proceedings of the inaugural function while R M Khodke, Asstt. Director, KVIC, Nagpur proposed a vote of thanks.
