Heavy to very heavy rainfall warning in many parts of MP

Staff Reporter : THE Weather Department has issued heavy to very heavy rains warning in many places including Chhatarpur, Damoh, Satna, Rewa, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, Neemuch and Rajgarh. In last 24 hours, heavy rainfall was witnessed at many places in State including Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur and Sagar. Rainfall was recorded in various places including Bhainsdehi (13 mm), Betul (9 mm), Pachmarhi Gadakhota (8 mm), Ashta (7 mm), Harda Bhanpur, Hoshangabad 6 mm. Maximum temperature witnessed in Bhopal was 24 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was 23 degrees Celsius .Wind velocity was 25-30 kms per hour. Bhopal witnessed around 45.5 mm rainfall on Sunday.
 
Gwalior recorded highest of the season about 70.2 mm rainfall. Weather Department officials stated that cyclonic activity in eastern Uttar Pradesh suddenly became active which has resulted in heavy to very heavy rains in western Madhya Pradesh. Intensity of rains will be high in most of the parts of the State in next 24 hours. Effect of cyclonic system will remain effective in Bhopal and Hoshangabad too for next 24 hours. Water-level of Upper Lake has again reached FTL limits 1666.80 ft and gates of Bhadbhada and Kaliyasot were opened at around 5 pm. Water-level of Narmada is increasing due to incessant rains in Hoshangabad. Release of water from Tawa dam is increasing further as water level of Narmada which has reached around 957 feet. Danger mark of water level is 964 feet.
 
To get a glimpse of water gushing out after the sluice gates of Tawa Dam were opened, visitors from Bhopal thronged Hoshangabad. Officials of MP Tourism claimed that rooms booking has gone high in resorts retreat since opening of sluice gates. The situation in many parts of the State is similar. Weather Department officials have said that with activation of three monsoon systems, winds from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are colliding and because of this the entire State has been receiving rains since August 23. Meteorologists have warned of heavy rains in Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Hoshangabad division and Harda district.
 
Apart from this, there are chances of heavy showers in Gwalior, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Satna, Rewa, Singrauli. Presently, there is a low pressure area on the Odisha Coast and the system has also included merging of upper air cyclone active over Vidarbha. Monsoon trough is passing through Rewa to Bay of Bengal. In addition, there is an upper air cyclone over southern part of Gujarat. Due to this system, process of formation of moisture from Arabian Sea continues. This situation can persist for two to three days and during this period there is a possibility of heavy rains.
