Attempt to murder accused carrying Rs 20k bounty held

In a joint effort of Bajaria police and Crime Branch, a 30-year-old accused has been arrested along with firearm who was carrying cash reward on his head as he was involved firing at a habitual offender Shoaib alias Anna in June and was absconding since then. Addressing mediapersons at the Police Control Room, Additional Superintendent of Police (Zone-1) Akhil Patel said, his arrest was made from his home on Sunday based on the tip-off from police informer that absconding accused Taufeeq alias Shooter, 30, son of Shabeer Hussain, a resident of Aishbagh area who was involved in opening gunshot on Shoaib Anna has come to his home to give money to his wife after which a police team cordon off the area and looking after cops, he tried to fled away and jumped from the terrace of home.
In the process, he got both his legs injured and was arrested by the police and a country-made pistol was seized from his possession. The accused told police that he has hatched conspiracy to kill Shoaib alias Anna and with the help of his accomplices he opened gunshot on him on June 6, but the victim survived in the attack. After committing the crime, he left Bhopal and till being arrested, he remained in Delhi and few districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
ASP Patel said that arrested accused is a hardcore criminal and as many as 35 criminal cases have been registered against him in different police stations of city including Piplani, Mangalwara, Bairagarh, Parwalia, Kolar, Shahjahanabad, Aishbagh, MP Nagar, Misrod and Bajaria. Earlier, on Friday Bajaria police have arrested Taufeeq’s aide Fazi Ali along with a pistol and two live cartridges he was also involved in the firing incident on Anna at 80 feet road. The accused was booked under relevant sections of Arms Act. He too was carrying cash reward of Rs 20,000 on his head.
