Staff Reporter : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Enforcement Officer, EPFO, Regional Office, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant, on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Sanjay Agrawal, posted as Enforcement Officer, Employees Provident Fund Office, Regional Office, Jabalpur.
Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, CBI Jabalpur, S K Pandey informed that, a man named Devi Prasad Pandey, Manager of Navambey Convent High School, Adhartal lodged a complaint that, EPFO, Enforcement Officer, Sanjay Agrawal demanded bribe of Rs 50,000 for settling deficiencies in PF compliance. Acting on the complaint, CBI had registered a case on a complaint under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) against an Enforcement Officer, EPFO, Regional Office, Jabalpur on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for setting right the PF compliance deficiencies on the part of the complainant’s high school at Adhartal, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) as noticed during his visit to the school.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. Search is being conducted at the premises of the accused situated in Shanti Nagar. The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the designated court at Jabalpur.
