Lokayukta police trap two employees of JMC taking bribe

A team of special establishment of Lokayukta police trapped two employees of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation at Pension Branch while taking bribe of Rs. 20,000 as first instalment of Rs. 40,000 for making pension case and preparing gratuity from an elderly woman, on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Lata Namdeo, posted as Clerk Assistant Grade-I at Establishment Branch and Rakesh Kumar Pandey, Office Assistant Grade-III, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation.
 
According to Lokayukta police, a man named Manish Mehto (35), son of Shriharan Lal Mehto, resident of Footatal lodged a complaint that her mother named Shyama Bai Mehto was retired from Jabalpur Municipal Corporation. She submitted application for preparing her pension case and preparing gratuity but Lata Namdeo, posted as Clerk Assistant Grade-I at Establishment Branch and Rakesh Kumar Pandey, Office Assistant Grade-III demanded bribe of Rs.
 
40,000 for preparing her pension case. Taking prompt action on the information, Lokayukta police fielded the appellant and obtained required evidences. Once the information was confirmed, Lokayukta police team trapped the corrupt employees red-handed while taking bribe of Rs. 20,000 as first instalment of preparing pension case from the appellant. Lokayukta police have registered a case under relevant sections of Prevention of Crime Act while further investigations are underway. During the trap, Lokayukta police team led by DSP, J. P. Verma comprised of Inspector, Manju Kiran Tirkey, Constables, Amit Gawande, Sharad Pandey, Dinesh Dubey, Woman Constable, Laxmi Rajak, Ravindra Singh and Jeet Singh.
