Various political, cultural, social organisations took to streets to celebrate the historic decision to repeal Article 370
Political leaders hail the decision
THE scrapping of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh into two Union Territories by the Central Government was celebrated with gusto and great enthusiasm in the city. Citizens came out on the streets to celebrate the historic decision by distributing sweets and bursting fire crackers. The historic move was the matter of discussion and celebration all over Nagpur. Workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the scrapping of Article 370 near the party office and also at major squares in the city. Many other political, social, cultural organisations also joined the celebrations. Workers of BJP in North Nagpur celebrated the day as ‘Azadi Diwas’.
They garlanded the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Satranjipura Square to mark the occasion. The move evoked a range of responses in Nagpur with hopes for a better future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Everyone appreciated the step and called it a progressive approach by the Modi Government. People in different professions and capacities in the city felt that Centre’s move was a historic step towards development.

A revolutionary decision by Central Government: Bawankule Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule welcomed the step of Modi Government to repeal Article 370 and stated it as a brave decision.
“Abolishing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir is a revolutionary decision by the Central Government,” said Bawankule in a press release. “Now Jammu and Kashmir is entering a new era of development. The youth in Valley will now get more chances to make their career and new industries will get chance to establish units there,” said Bawankule.

A masterstroke by Home Ministry: Adv Sulekha Kumbhare “Abolishing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir is a masterstroke by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah which will change the status of the Valley in coming years,” said Adv Sulekha Kumbhare, Chief of Bahujan Republican Ekta Manch on Monday. “This is good for the people, both in Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India,” she added.
Central Government created history: Sancheti “The long-pending demand of removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir has now finally been fulfilled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. And it has now become a golden history for India,” said Ajay Sancheti, former MP, Rajya Sabha here on Monday. Creating two Union Territories from one State is really a brave step and every citizen of this country must appreciate this, he added.
It’s a gift from Modi Govt for J&K citizens: Khopde “This independence is a real gift for citizens of Jammu and Kashmir by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which will change their future,” said MLA Krishna Khopde. “The young people in the Kashmir valley can now expect new employment opportunities and the move will go a long way in ensuring that youth do not get diverted,” he added.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal hold Anand Utsav Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal organised Anand Utsav to mark the historic decision made by Government of India by abolishing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Govind Shende, Harish Harkare, Arun Netke, Sudarshan Shende, Amit Bembi, Bhaiyaji Choubey, Prashant Titre, Vishal Punj, Sanket Ambekar, Lakhan Kuril, Mamta Chichwadkar, Shubhada Devgade, Mayuri Makhe, Mangala Gadve and others were present during the celebration.
A bold decision by Govt in favour of country: Girish Vyas “It is a well planned and worked out decision by the Central Government which is in the favour of the country ,” said MLA Girish Vyas on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally fulfilled the promise that he made to include Valley in India. Every one is happy with the decision and celebrating it as a festival, said Vyas.
Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai: Datke Former Mayor and BJP city chief Pravin Datke on Monday appreciated the decision of Central Government and said, ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’. Scrapping Article 370 is a bold step by the Government and it will now change the status of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
It’s a historic move by Modi Govt: D Mallikarjun Reddy “With this historic move, Modi Government has proved that India is a strong country which can do anything for its unity,” said D Mallikarjun Reddy. Scrapping Article 370 and 35A is really a brave step which is in favour of Jammu and Kashmir. This is an attempt to assert that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and now all laws applicable elsewhere in the country will be relevant in the hill region too, he added.
Removal of Article 370 is a tribute to Pandit Mukherjee: Kohale
“Removal of Article 370 is a real tribute to Pandit Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who sacrificed his life for the same,” said MLA Sudhakar Kohale on Monday. He said, “It is a lesson to the enemies who always indulge to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India.” “We congratulate and support the bill which is presented by the Home Minister Amit Shah in the Parliament to crash the Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir,” said Adv Dinesh Gupta, Convener, Progressive Lawyer’s Forum. CA Milind Kanade, Treasurer of Swatantraveer Sawarkar Smarak Samiti also hailed the move. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha and many other such organisations also appreciated the Government’s stand. However, as expected, Congress opposed the stand of Government and termed it as a ‘murder of Constitution’.
