Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shaikh Arif Husen on Monday launched an innovative campaign ‘Har Head Hoga Helmet’ aims to check fatalities in road accident. Launching the campaign, SSP Husen highlighted the importance of wearing helmet during driving and distributed helmets, which meets the standard of Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), among people in exchange of their headgear going out of order.
However, people here in the district are aware about the benefits of wearing helmet during ride, it has been noticed that when it comes to purchasing of the headgear they usually prefer cheap one which are less protective, said SSP Husen. Under this campaign, around 100 helmets have been exchanged. In exchange of old helmet, new and strong one has been given to people. The campaign will not restrict to common people, but officials of government departments will be asked to ensure that employees in their respective offices should compulsorily wear strong helmet.
Moreover, private organisations will also be linked to the campaign. An individual and private organisation could also register its active participation in the campaign by giving new and good quality helmets to the police department for distribution. Exhorting mass to use helmet which meets the standard of Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), the SSP said that just wearing a helmet will not make a person safe during ride, instead everyone has to ensure that the helmet they are wearing meets the standard of BIS. On the occasion, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur, ASP (IUCAW) Amrita Sori, ASP (Traffic) M R Mandavi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Satish Thakur and others were present.
