Unnao rape survivor admitted to AIIMS

THE Unnao rape survivor, who suffered critical injuries in a car-truck collision last week, was airlifted to New Delhi on Monday evening following Supreme Court directives in this regard. She was airlifted in an air ambulance, which arrived at the Chaudhary Charan Singh airport from New Delhi and was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre here on Monday.
“Special arrangements had been made all through the nearly 15-km-long route passing through some busy areas of the state capital to allow the unhindered movement of the vehicle carrying the rape survivor from the hospital,” the DM said. On the lawyer of the rape survivor who is also undergoing treatment in the hospital, he said if the weather permits, the air ambulance will return in the night to take him to Delhi as well. Otherwise, he will be airlifted on Tuesday morning. Earlier, the doctors attending the rape survivor at the trauma centre had said that she was “critical and stable”.
“The condition of rape survivor is improving. She is following command and opened eyes and understanding things. The process of removing the ventilator has started but she has to be given medicines to maintain her blood pressure,” Trauma Centre in-charge Dr Sandeep Tiwari told PTI.

Delhi court directs accused Sengar be shifted to Tihar jail
A DELHI court directed on Monday that expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, accused of raping a minor girl at his residence in Unnao in 2017, be shifted to Tihar jail here from Sitapur prison in Uttar Pradesh. Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma put up the matter for argument on charges in the gangrape -- one of the four related cases transferred to Delhi -- for August 7. Both Sengar and his accomplice Shashi Singh, who had allegedly lured the victim into going to the legislator’s residence, were produced in the court in compliance with an order by District judge Dinesh Sharma here. The court has also directed to shift Singh to Tihar jail. Sengar and nine others were also booked recently for murder by the CBI after the rape survivor and her advocate were injured when a truck hit their car in Rae Bareli.
‘Condition of Unnao rape survivor improving’
LUCKNOW (Uttar Pradesh):
THE health condition of the Unnao rape survivor who was grievously injured in a road accident is improving, according to King George’s Medical University (KGMU) where she is currently undergoing treatment. However, there is no improvement in the condition of her lawyer Mahendra Singh, who is still in a deep coma.
