National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur has set up a HPC cluster supercomputer having a Linpack benchmark performance of 39.5 TFLOPS and ranked 32 in India as per the latest Top Supercomputers List released by CDAC. It is for the first time that an NIT has made its entry in this 11-year-old list which has five Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) among select premier institutions and R&D laboratories of the country. The NIT supercomputer has been setup in the Advanced Computing Facility under the Systems & Networks Division of its Central Computer Center.

The computer center team provided the required design inputs and technical expertise for the on-site assembly and testing of the cluster supercomputer under the leadership and support of the Director, Dr A M Rawani. The Director informed that the supercomputer shall provide impetus to computational research in the institute by enabling large scale high resolution computer simulations in different science and engineering disciplines.
