Budding dancers of the city enthralled a sizable audience, which had turned up to enjoy the music and dance event ‘Antaragni-Dance For cause’, organised at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande hall on Sunday. The chief guest for the event organised by ‘Sankalp- Nayi Soch Nayi Umeed’, was Vice-Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University Dr Siddarthvinayak Kane. Guest of honour were Director of South Central Zone Cultural Centre Nagpur Dr Deepak Khirwadkar, Editor of The Hitavada Vijay Phanshikar and Dance Guru Ratnam Janarddhanan. Also present were Adv Nishant Gandhi, Corporator Kamlesh Choudhary, Vjay Gadre, Director Deendayal Bahuuddeshiya Prasarak Mandal and family members of Sanstha. The programme was conceptualised by Pooja Hirwade, Senior disciple of Dance guru Ratnam Janarddhanan of Pratibha Nritya Mandir and Abhijit Jha, President Sankalp and was organised to raise funds in aid of education of daughters of deceased farmers. .
The programme got off to a brilliant start with an invocatory Kuchipudi performed by Arjun Nair and Pooja Hirwade, to seek blessings of Lord Ganesh and Lord Shiva. Shraddha Hirwade, Jaidev Pahade, Saumitra Mardikar, Gauri Hirwade and Arjun Nair then presented some sizzling variety of Western dances like retro performance, horror dance with Bhayanak Ras, a well choreographed contemporary dance depicting the life on earth without water, that was outstanding.

There were some unique classical themes like Kali Tandav, that was full of sound and fury, followed by Mayil Thillana that was performed by Pooja Hirwade, Arjun Nair, Gauri Hirwade, Rutuja Wankhede, Vinisha Nair, Nimisha and Sharwari Patil. The event also had a famous folk item of Maharashtra ‘Waghya Murali’ that had an upbeat rhythm and the dancers had the audience in cheer with their performance. This was followed by Rajasthani Folk dances ‘Ghoomar, Chirmi and Kalbeliya’ that was again a colourful presentation performed by Sachin Dabhnekar, Swapnil Khare. Anurag Ladse rendered philosophical songs while Azin Khan recited some self written shayari.
A Peacock dance with Pooja Hirwade in the lead, was very impressive. The show concluded with a thematic act reflecting the life of a farmer. All those present in the hall were presented with a sapling under the slogan ‘Har Ghar Paudha Abhiyaan’. Anchor Manish Nair was in his element and set the stage on fire with his poem ‘Kisan Hu Mai’. His crisp commentary and a song that brought cheer on the faces of all those present, was heartwarming. A cheque of Rs 75,000 was handed over by Sankalp to Vijay Gadre, Director of Deendayal Bahuuddeshiya Prasarak Mandal in the presence of family members of the deceased farmers and invited dignitaries.
