Chief Minister presides over meeting of Organising Committee of 150th anniversary of Gandhiji
 
The Chief Minister Kamal Nath has said that Gandhiji’s views, philosophy and principles have to be spread from house to house. Our basic goal should be to make the younger generation understand and adopt Gandhiji’s personality and accomplishments. Nath was addressing the committee constituted for various activities being organized by the Madhya Pradesh Government on the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation at Mantralaya on Thursday. The Chief Minister, Kamal Nath, said that Gandhiji’s views have always been relevant to our country and will continue to be relevant even today and in future too.
 
He said, in the era through which India is passing today, it is most important that we should spread Gandhi Ji’s principles and the values established by him among the people and make sure that people adopt it. He said that we cannot cover Gandhi Ji’s personality in one year, but our efforts will always be to spread Gandhi Ji’s views among the people. For this permanent programmes have to be prepared. Nath mentioned that on the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi Ji, all our activities should not be limited only to television and publication in newspapers. We have to pay special attention that his views and its relevance to the present time should reach younger generation, he added.
 
Nath said that that in today’s meeting, we should work out a comprehensive draft as to how can we implement our ideas devoted to Gandhi Ji. A meeting will be held again in the last week of October to present the outline on conducting permanent programme on Gandhi Ji’s philosophy, religious harmony and his particular thoughts on secularism and national unity. On this basis, we will work to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s views and principles among the people of Madhya Pradesh. Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts and principles most needed in today’s era: During the meeting, the members of the Committee gave important suggestions on how Gandhi Ji’s values of communal harmony, national unity, views towards the welfare of all classes and religions, philosophy, principles and values should be spread in cities as well as villages.
 
All the Members said in one voice that Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts and principles are the most needed in today’s era. The Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh suggested for spreading main tools of Gandhi Ji used by him in the freedom, through which he generated new conscience in youth, women, tribals and scheduled castes along with his philosophy for Khadi among the people on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary. He suggested to conduct padyatra focusing Jungle Satyagrah in forest areas, padyatra in rural areas on the concept of Gram Swaraj, to name schools after the name of Mahatma Gandhi and to use logo of 150th anniversary of Gandhi Ji in all newsletters and advertisement of the government and to inscribe his quotations in schools. Moreover, he gave suggestions to impose ban on people spreading hatred in the society, to play Ramdhun and famous prayer “Ishwar Allah Tere Naam-Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwan’ of Gandhi Ji, prayer of Gandhi Ji in all government’s programme and to give special promotion of Khadi production.
 
 
He told to make special efforts to free youth from intoxication on the basis of Gandhi Ji’s thoughts. Singh also told to publicize Gandhi Ji’s thoughts through social media and to include lesson of Gandhi Ji in text books of high school syllabus. Suman Barant of Vardha, Maharashtra stated that Gandhi Ji had special appeal on environment. A special training should be organized for youth on this subject. He gave suggestion to oragnise Prabodhan Karyakram on Charkha and portable exhibition focusing Gandhi Ji. Barant mentioned that we can also spread teachings of Gandhi Ji among the people through Bhagwad Kirtan. He told to spread the views of Gandhi Ji and new literature on him in simple language among the masses. He further mentioned that a 5 day programme focusing Gandhi Ji should be organized in colleges and programmes related to Gandhi Ji should be organized in tribal areas too. The Gandhian Philosopher Dr. S. N. Subbarao congratulated the Chief Minister Kamal Nath for his decision to organize programs at wide scale in Madhya Pradesh on the 150th anniversary of Gandhi Ji.
 
 
He suggested that we should first organize programmes for strengthening communal harmony and unity of the country. Moreover, he gave suggestion to create sincere workers, unity of religion and languages by imbibing views of Gandhi Ji and to include afforts for creating and making India free of hunger, poverty, forced labour, corruption and untouchability in the programme. The Former Advocate General and Gandhian Anandmohan Mathur told to distribute booklets in all the government schools focusing great personalities, who took part in freedom struggle from 1857 to 1947. He suggested for organizing essay writing competition on Gandhi Ji’s life in schools-colleges and to set up museums, research institutes along with organizing lectures of revolutionary orators of liberal thoughts. Mathur gave suggestion for inclusion of lessons focusing great personalities in school and college syllabus and restoration of memorials of great personalities.
 
He said that programmes will have to be organized to apprise the young generation of the misconceptions spread about the medieval history. He suggested for opening health centers in every 6 villages and to provide facility of Bhartiya Chikitsa Paddhiti in them, teaching of all languages in schools and for constructing libraries. The Gandhian leader P. Rajgopal suggested for formation of Ministry of Peace and Non-Violence, strengthening Sarvodaya organizations and promoting peace-based tourism. He said that this year is also the 150th birth year of Kastuba Gandhi Ji. Therefore, we should also conduct a campaign to empower women by giving them land rights and to make villages free from land disputes. Chandrika Prasad Dwivedi suggested for establishing Gandhiji’s memorial to other place in grand form, which has come in the submergence area in Barwani district. He also suggested for implementation of Gram-Swarajya in real sense and launching a campaign to get the younger generation rid of confused history.
