Here is a good news for electricity consumers. All the consumers will be given benefits of Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana from September 1. Three power distribution companies have implemented the scheme to provide benefits of the scheme for monthly consumption of upto 150 units. Energy Minister Priyavrat Singh informed that the companies have updated the software of Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana and its benefits will be provided from September 1 to eligible consumers. Under the scheme, monthly consumption of 100 units will be charged only Rs 100 electricity bill, while all the consumers will be given benefit under Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana for consumption of upto 150 units.
In case of metre reading in 27 days, only 135 units will be counted while reading in 135 days will be charged bill of only Rs 175. According to standards of electricity consumption reading specified by Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPSERC), eligible consumers will be charged bill of Rs 100 for monthly consumption upto 100 units, while rest of the electricity expenditure will be provided to companies by the State Government. Under the scheme, domestic electricity consumers of below poverty line and SC/ST will be given monthly bill of Rs 25 upto 30 units and billing will be held quarterly and the State Government will bear rest of the expenditure.
As per a circular issued by the Energy Department, consumers in rural areas of 500 W unmetered electricity connections will be charged bills under sub category (ii) of LV 1.2 category according to the electricity tariff of MPSERC. With implementation of Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana, all the other subsidies will not be applicable for domestic consumers. The electricity bills (except spot bill) issued under Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana will be printed in different colour and subsidy given by the State Government will be separately mentioned in the bill. Under the direction of power distribution companies in case of changing the billing slab from 100 units, then difference of reading and dates will be added and billing of first 100 units will be charged electricity cost of 9 per cent while above 100 units consumption will be charged 12 per cent electricity cost.
