Activities of highway patrolling reviewed

Director General (Planning/Provisioning, Technical Services, Traffic and Rail) R K Vij on Friday directed traffic in-charges to identify black as well as grey spot on National Highway-53 (Rajnandgaon-Durg-Raipur-Mahasamund) based on accident records of last three years. Reviewing the activities of Highway Patrolling, the SDG has directed officials concerned to identity spots for establishing ‘Highway Help Booth’ at every 20 KM on NH-53. Besides, he also directed officials to ensure rumbled speed-breakers, installation of signage indicating slow speed as well as junctions, and necessary requisite arrangements on places where other roads entered the National Highway to prevent road fatalities.
 
SDG Vij has also instructed officials to take stern action against people indulged in drunken driving. Besides, he also gave necessary directives to establish smooth coordination with officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and others. It is to be mentioned here that since August 2018, as many as 15 Highway Patrolling vehicles are being operated on NH-53 (Rajnandgaon-Durg-Raipur-Mahasamund) to avert road fatalities and provide necessary assistances in situation of accidents.
