Jawaharlal Darda Memorial Art Camp to start from today

AS many as 20 internationally acclaimed artists would take part in the Jawaharlal Darda Memorial Art Camp 2019 to be organised by Jawaharlal Darda Art Gallery from September 30. The six-day art camp would be held at Irai Safari Retreat, Tadoba in Chandrapur district. The camp would conclude on October 5. The camp is a befitting tribute to the founder of Lokmat Group and veteran freedom fighter late Jawaharlal Darda, fondly called ‘Babuji’. He was a multifaceted personality. He was not just active in politics, but was also an eminent journalist, an able administrator, a visionary and a sensitive person with a big heart, who always dream of promoting contemporary Indian art. Jawaharlal Darda Art Gallery was set up to realise his dream.
 
He was a true nature lover and drew inspiration from it. He was fond of art and had respect for art and artists. The main objective of this camp is to honour and encourage the renowned artists from across the country who have carved a niche for themselves at the international level. This include Sujata Bajaj (Paris, France), Deepak Shinde (Mumbai), Vijendra Sharma (Delhi), Suhas Bahulkar (Mumbai), Kahini Arte Merchant (Mumbai), Rini Dhumal (Vadodara), Anand Panchal, (Mumbai), Laxman Aelay (Hyderabad), Manish Pushkale (Delhi), M Narayan (Pune), Sanjeev Sonpimpare (Mumbai), Suryakant Lokhande (Mumbai), Sweeta Rai (Mumbai), Tejinder Kanda (Delhi), Prajakta Palava (Mumbai), and Wahid Ahmed (Guwahati). The camp would be curated by Vinod Sharma (Mumbai). Vijay Darda, Chairman, Editorial Board of Lokmat Media and others will attend the camp.
