Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will soon make it mandatory for Architects to submit report about affixing of rain water harvesting system in buildings. The issue was discussed threadbare in Establishment and Projects Committee meeting held on Tuesday wherein it was decided to have the system in all multi-storeyed and big building to be constructed in city, said its Chairperson Abhay Gotkar. After the building plan is sanctioned the Architects should provide certificate to civic body about fixing of rain harvesting system. In cases where building plans are already sanctioned, Town Planning Department should call for certificates from Architects.
The committee also discussed issues about having rain water harvesting by road side, taking stock of progress of cement concrete roads in Phase-I, 2 and 3, the illegal weekly markets that are functioning in various parts of city and that is causing trouble to citizens. Also the members discussed steps to increase the revenue of NMC, also took into account illegal mobile towers, buildings in dilapidated conditions, building plans sanctioned by Town Planning Department from April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019, income earned, plans rejected and zone-wise situation.
Another special mention was about ongoing construction of wall at nullah in Jambudeep Nagar. The work was stalled for a long time due to some problems and Ghotkar directed officials to remove hurdles and ensure that work is completed at the earliest. As to concretisation works of roads, the committee acknowledged reports about shoddy construction and directed officials to take necessary steps to ensure quality is adhered to. Ghotkar also directed officials to speed-up the ongoing road construction work to ease the difficulties of citizens.
Weekly Market: Illegal weekly markets should not be allowed to function and help be taken of Enforcement Department to take suitable action. Such markets mostly function on busy roads and steps be taken to regularise them at proper places so that people are not inconvenienced. The meeting held at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall at Central Office of NMC was attended among others by corporators Vidya Madavi, Sonali Kadu, Pallavi Shamkule, Ujjwala Bankar; officials-Pramod Gawande, Assistant Director, Town Planning, Avinash Barhate, Executive Engineer, Amin Akhtar, Deputy Engineer, and Shrikant Deshpande.
