In the wake of price hike in diesel, the Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) has decided to increase the fare of the low-floor buses running in the State capital. Recently, BCLL had sent a proposal to the Transport Department demanding increase in the fare of the low-floor buses.

The proposal has been sent to the Transportation Department and is pending before the officials and is likely to get a nod by the officials on January 15. Director of BCLL Kewal Mishra said that increase in price of diesel and other expenditures the corporation has to increase the fare of the low-floor buses. He also said that the fare of these buses was not increased since past 12 years.

The daily commuters are at odds with this price hike. They say that they are hurt with this increase of fare because on one hand the cost of Mayor’s bus pass has been increased and while on the other, the fare is also increased.

Old low-floor buses to be replaced The BCLL has also decided to replace the old and shabby low-floor buses by new midi buses in Bhopal. As many as 150 low-floor buses in a poor condition would be replaced and nearly 80 of them have already been replaced, said BCLL PRO Sanjay Soni. The condition of low-floor buses, running on the SR-2 and SR-4 routes, is pathetic and the commuters have to face trouble due to lack of maintenance of these buses. Buses plying towards railway station, Nadra bus stand and New Market would be replaced first and the others would also be replaced later, Soni added.
