Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (Jabalpur Zone), Bhagwat Singh Chouhan (IPS) assumed charge, on Monday. He was welcomed by outgoing IG Vivek Sharma (IPS) at his office in presence of Superintendent of Police Amit Singh, ASP Sanjeev Uike, ASP Shivesh Singh Baghel, ASP Dr Raisingh Narvaria and others. On the occasion, IG, Vivek Sharma handed over the charge and welcomed to IG, B S Chouhan.
Assuming charged as IG (Jabalpur Zone), Bhagwat Singh Chouhan emphasised over checking stabbing and women related crime cases while protection of SC/ST people in rural areas of Seoni, Chhindwara and rural areas of Jabalpur and Katni districts will be the priority areas. Improving traffic arrangements is a challenging task which will be solved in collaboration with civic and administrative authorities.
Replying to a query, IG, B.S. Chouhan said that new teams will be constituted to review pending cases of dacoity, murder and other sensitive crime cases. He said that police are far ahead from criminals in terms of technological upgradations with skilled manpower but there is a need of public awareness to put-up vigilant check on crime activities.
