Only for mentor The year 2020 is bringing Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland back together. The famous mentor-mentee duo is set to return on the big screen together in Universal Pictures’ Dolittle starring Robert Downey Jr as famed doctor and veterinarian, Dr Dolittle. Director Stephen Gaghan shares the reason the duo’s reunion. “Tom Holland is in Dolittle because of Robert. Tom did the movie because he loves Robert. They’re very close.”

Robert Downey Jr may be appearing in Scarlett Johansson-led Black Widow as Tony Stark aka Iron Man but the Hollywood superstar insists that his Marvel journey has ended once and for all. Downey Jr amassed fame and fan-following after his appearance as Iron Man in 10 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies. He ended his stint with 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, though he will be coming back for one last time for Black Widow, which is set in the past.

In an interview with Extra TV, alongside his producer-wife Susan Downey, the 54-year-old actor was asked whether he will be donning the suit of armour in a future Marvel movie. “Anything could happen... As far as I’m concerned, I hung up my guns and I’m good to let it go. I also think that Marvel is on this journey now, they’re trying a bunch of other stuff and you know, I’m excited for them to see how all that goes,” Downey Jr said. The actor will next appear in Dolittle, which is set to release on January 17. Dolittle is about a veterinarian who could talk to animals and was forced to set on an adventure when the young queen (Jessie Buckley) falls ill.

A reluctant Dolittle is forced to go on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures. The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice (Harry Collett) and a coterie of animal friends, including a gorilla (Rami Malek), a duck (Octavia Spencer), a bickering duo of a cynical ostrich (Kumail Nanjiani) and a polar bear (John Cena) and a parrot (Emma Thompson), who serves as Dolit’le’s most trusted advisor and confidante.
