VIA Agro & Rural Development Forum organised a Workshop on ‘Bioenzyme.’ Srikanth Ranganayakulu G, an expert on the subject shared his knowledge about the utility of Bioenzymes. He elaborated that converting kitchen waste into nutrients; natural homecare and products like floor cleaner, kitchen cleaner, dishwasher, shampoo, face wash, laundry detergent and many more. He explained the participants about microbial fermentation of Bioenzyme, which requires fresh kitchen waste, water and jiggery, which was founded by Dr Rosukon Poompanvong – an actively involved in enzyme research for more than 30 years and she encourages people to make garbage enzyme at home to ease global warming.

The term Bioenzyme may be a misnomer as it may not contain the actual enzymes in technical terms. The terms garbage enzyme, fruit enzyme, kitchen waste enzyme, fermented fruit juice and now the name Bioenzyme is popularized since a few years. He said, growing plants without using chemical fertilizers can protect the environment and keep us healthy.

Bioenzyme is very useful for agriculture. Repelling pest without using pesticides, by spraying the mixture of Bioenzymes with water on the lawn will reduce insect and it is a natural herbicidem which helping the plants to grow well. Bioenzymes can enhance photosynthesis. As a result, plants will get more nutrients and their roots can absorb more air. In addition, ozone, which is emitted by Bioenzymes, can help plants grow better and faster. “Building fertile soil Bioenzymes is a natural fertilizer. It can make a barren land fertile. Maintaining cleanliness, Bioenzymes is natural air freshener. Bioenzymes can improve drainage around your house and clean wastewater from factories and farms.

Cleaning drainage system, by pouring Bioenzymes or its residues into sewers, cesspools and ditches, we can prevent pipes from being blocked, purify wastewater and ultimately clean rivers and oceans,” Srikanth said. “It can replace cleaning chemicals that we normally use. It can also be used to water plants. It is economical, useful and beneficial to our health,” he added. “In addition, pests such as flies, mosquitoes, rats and cockroaches will become fewer if we use Bioenzymes to clean our houses,” he suggested.
