It was a moment of pride when young painter from Madhya Pradesh Riya Jain was awarded with Bal Shakti Puraskar under the Pradhanmantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Awards on Wednesday at the hands President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Durbar Hall, Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. She was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, gold medal and a certificate.
 
She will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24 and will be the part of the Republic Day Parade on January 26 in New Delhi standing in the jeep of Bal Shakti Puraskar and waving her hands. This award is the biggest award for children in India. According to the sources, 49 children are selected from all over India for this award and she is the only one from Madhya Pradesh to be bestowed with this prestigious award. She received this award in the field of art and culture.
 
Notably, Riya Jain, daughter of Rajni and Shreyansh Kumar Jain, has won a total of 95 prizes in painting competitions in which eight are of international level, 18 of national level and 71 of State and district-level. She had learnt painting at Jawahar Bal Bhawan under the guidance of senior artist Raj Saini. In July 2019, she had won 2nd prize in Earth Day national-level drawing competition organised by Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India, and was awarded by a gold memento at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
 
She had also received prizes from Governor, Chief Minister, Forest Minister, Cultural Minister, and many more Cabinet Ministers of Madhya Pradesh. Apart from painting competitions, she has also won 45+ prizes in karate, speaking, writing, skating, science model, abacus competition. She has won 10 medals in karate at national-level and has also got Black Belt in Karate from TT Nagar Stadium. She had also won 2nd prize in Third National Essay Competition on Water. She had made an innovative science project like multipurpose umbrella.
