The New Year seems to have not brought good news for the LPG consumers as the oil marketing companies have hiked cost of LPG cylinder. The price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 18.50 from its previous level of Rs 741 in December 2019. The new price of Rs 759.50 for a 14.2 kg non-subsidised LPG cylinders, has came into effect form January 1, 2020. It is important to note that the LPG price has been going up for the past few months.

Taking into account the current price hike, it appears that the LPG rates are now inching back to its highest level touched in May-June 2019. During May-June 2019, the rates were at its highest level of the year 2019. However, in September 2019, LPG cylinder rates had fallen to a low of Rs 621 for 14.2 kg cylinder in Nagpur because of a various reasons including slump in the international market. Since then, prices have been rising. Since then the prices are showing consistent hike every passing month.
