CONFEDERATION of Indian Industry(CII) Vidarbha Zone has organised the ‘Study Mission on Best Practices’ at Ashok Leyland plant, Bhandara on January 28. The objective of this Study Mission was to enable industry to learn best practices from the world class company and be able to benchmark with those doing exemplary work and also to learn best practices adopted by the company, interaction with the management team, sharing of experiences and plant round.
M N Lakhote, Plant Head, Ashok Leyland Ltd, Bhandara briefed about the strategies and best practices adopted at the Ashok Leyland Group, work done in the journey of manufacturing excellence, operational efficiency improvements involving employee synergy, sensitivity towards environment, health and safety, MOST technique used for work content measurement, energy conservation initiatives, loss elimination, 5S, KAIZEN, GEMBA drive, cell manufacturing, automation, etc. Arvind Boradkar, AGM- Human Resources briefed on the best HR and IR practices. He said that the plant has never faced production loss due to any IR issues. S B Joshi, DGM – Manufacturing Services, Madan Deshmukh- AGM- Manufacturing, A R Bandewar, Adit Chaturvedi- Divisional Manager facilitated the plant visits of all delegates in different groups. The shop floor visit provided an opportunity for participants to absorb best practices by seeing the tools and techniques in action at the plant and also helped to understand how successful production system is implemented for the success of a manufacturing enterprise in today’s competition.
Demonstration of various projects implemented and their rational/technology has been covered during the plant visit. Interactions at the shop floor with supervisors and operators and also with senior management cleared various doubts & queries of the participants. Rahul Dixit, Chairman, CII Vidarbha Zonal Council briefed on the importance of such meaningful deliberations and enriching experience for developing the competitiveness amongst the industries and specially SMEs. He mentioned how CII Vidarbha Zone is planning and taking such initiatives which are really useful for the individuals and industries in various sectors.
About 45 participants attended from various industries like Elkem South Asia Pvt Ltd, V S AutoTech Pvt Ltd, Sandeep Metalcraft Pvt Ltd, Bajaj Steel Industries Ltd, Metlok Pvt Ltd, Hindalco Industries Ltd, JSW Steel Coated Products Ltd, KEC International Limited, Future Supply Chain Solution Ltd, Calderys India Refractories Ltd, Piyush Plasto Chems Pvt Ltd, GMR Warora Energy Ltd, G H Raisoni University, SMS Envocare Ltd, Morarjee Textiles Limited etc.
