NELSON Mother & Child Care Hospital in association with Rashtriya Bhal Suraksha Karyakram (RBSK) Nagpur, launched the Cochlear Implant Surgical Unit at Nelson Hospital and had organised free cochlear implant surgical screening camp in the hospital. Cochlear implant is implanted to children who are hearing impaired by birth or lost their hearing capacity.
In this screening camp children who are fit for surgical procedures have been identified and they will be operated soon in the hospital free of cost under RBSK scheme. Children from Nagpur and other places like Gondia, Tumsar, Gadchiroli, Tumsar, Soaner, Kalmeshwar, Koradi have come for check-up in this camp. Dr Prashant Naikent, Surgeon and Shlok Shrivatsav, Audiologist in association with team from MED-EL India screened the children in the camp. Under the guidance of Dr Devendra Paturkar, Civil Surgeon of Nagpur and Amol khobragade, Programme Manager of RBSK Nagpur, this camp was organised in Nelson Hospital, informs a press release issued here.
The unique feature in this camp was about the hearing implant to facilitate the hearing capacity among the hearing deprived by providing a ‘Single Unit’ (SU) processor for these needy patients. With the support of the Management CA Amit Jain Director, Dr Sonal Kumar Bhagat, Center Head, Archana Thakre, Administrator and Dr S P Rajan, Business Head the camp was successful and more than 60 children were screened in this camp at Nelson Hospital.
