Indian Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) organised a conference on ‘Energy conservation and air quality in hospital and hospitality industry-Urjavaran’. The function was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Bhusan Kumar Upadhyay, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur who was invited by the Convener and President-elect ISHRAE Ajay Pandey. The chief guest addressed the delegates with his shear steadfastness and his vast canvass of kaleidoscopic experience about the role we can play in promoting and saving the clean energy for our nation.
Ajay Pandey informed that ‘Urjavaran’ theme which is combination of Hindi word Paryavaran (nature ) and Urja (energy ) and focus is on hospital and hospitality sector. He informed that a normal human being consumes almost 1 kg of food , 3kg of liquid and 15 kg of air everyday but polluted harmful air quality results in lots of diseasese which is definitely a big cause of worry for the society. At the same, almost all the hospitals are air-conditioned and in hospitals due to infections, sometimes a patient comes with one problem and air quality may result in another problem.
To control this contamination in hospital and hotel industries accommodating fire safety, ISHRAE has initiated the social programme to educate consultants, contractors, architects, Government agencies, research institutes, universities, engineering students, green building professionals and hospital/hotel industries. Ajay Pandey said, “Urjavaran is a flagship programme of ISHRAE which is organised in 32 cities of India and abroad.” He said, the conference has been exclusively designed to create awareness on air quality solutions and share knowledge on technologies and products which are not only energy efficient but are environment friendly. In the conference the keynote speaker were Prashant Desai from Mumbai who delivered expertise knowledge on contamination control in hospital.
Another speaker Shankar Ghime shed light on the SWOT analysis in healthcare and Rajesh Pokale described the safety measure improvements required in hospitality sector. The programme received overwhelming response from the members.
