The body of seven-year-old Aryan Gunbhare, who was thrown in Sukla Dam under Ari police station of the district, was recovered after several hours of efforts by the police and SDRF on Sunday afternoon. Dharmendra (20), son of Sukhman Taykar, who was accused of throwing the boy in the water after taking him to Sukla dam, has been arrested by Ari police. Dharmendra, who was accused of taking revenge for a two-year-old quarrel, had taken the neighbour’s only son Aryan on Saturday morning to Sukla dam. Seeing the opportunity, the accused threw Aryan into the dam and went back home.

Investigations started when Aryan did not return home, and the boy was not found. After exposing the incident, Ari police reached the spot and took out the dead body from the dam. Both the deceased and the accused are neighbours. Accused Dharmendra told the police during interrogation that two years ago there was a fight between the deceased’s father Santosh and his father Sukhman over some issues. Father, Sukhman suffered a heart attack following the quarrel.

However, his father recovered after treatment. The accused had then made up his mind to take revenge for this quarrel with the father. Dharmendra, who was waiting for an opportunity, made a plan on Saturday and took Aryan, the only son of neighbour Santosh Gunbhare, to Sukla Dam on a bicycle. He then threw Aryan into the dam, where the boy died due to drowning.
