5 held for betting on cricket; details worth crores seized

A joint team of Cyber Cell and Rajendra Nagar Police on Saturday busted an interstate gang indulged in cricket betting by arresting five gamblers and seized betting details worth several crores. Acting on a precise tip-off about gamblers taking bets on an IPL match played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, the police team swung into action and nabbed five persons from the Amlidih area, said police sources.
 
Police sources further informed that the arrested gamblers were identified as Anil Lalwani (28), Rahul Katare (29), Kumar Katare (32), Rahul Katare (29), all natives of Madhya Pradesh; and Subham Wadhwani alias Santosh (26), a resident of Amlidih under Rajendra Nagar police station limits.
 
From the possession of arrested gamblers, police have seized betting details worth several crores, Rs 4000 cash, 14 mobile handsets and a laptop. The arrested gamblers were booked under relevant Section of Gambling Act and further investigation was under way, added police sources.
