Adulterated khoya sweets worth Rs 1.10 lakh seized 
 
IN A joint operation, Food & Drug Administration and Wadi Police raided an unauthorised sweetmeat factory at Lava on Khadgaon Road and seized 553 kilogramme adulterated khoya sweets worth Rs 1.10 lakh and skimmed milk powder worth Rs 8,510. During the raid, food safety officers found that Meghraj Mesusingh Rajpurohit was illegally running the business by adulterating khoya with safolite and other chemicals. FDA team collected the samples and sent those to laboratory for analysis.
 
The raid was conducted by Assistant Commissioner (Food) Sharad Kolte, Food Safety Officers Lalit Soyam and Anand Mahajan with the assistance of Wadi Police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Noorul Hasan supervised the search operation. Ahead of Diwali festival, the FDA collected 127 samples of khoya, sweets, and edible oil from the district after seizing food products and other material worth over Rs 10.50 lakh.
