Alleging that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aaghadi (MVA) Government has forgotten its promises it had made after coming to power, Sudhir Mungantiwar, former Finance Minister and Chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said, “Now, people of Maharashtra have realised, they have been deceived by the Government. The MVA had declared its manifesto wherein it had promised several things but failed to keep the same.” Mungantiwar was addressing a press conference at Press Club on Saturday. His was the response to MVA’s one year in power in State.

“Manifesto is prepared with a thought that the promises made therein would be completed gradually in five years. All projects can not be taken up in one single year. At least one or two projects are expected to be completed in a year. Unfortunately, this Government has failed to do so in its first year,” said Mungantiwar. Replying to a question, Mungantiwar said, “We consider that the situation was not good due to the pandemic. But this Government made false allegations that Central Government had not given a single-penny as aid. In fact, Central Government has given financial assistance to the State which the Government forgot.” “The Government has played with the emotions of Maratha community. It failed to plead the case in Supreme Court that resulted in getting stay to the case.

The government went further and cancelled the reservation of Maratha community,” added Mungantiwar. “Vidarbha Statutory Development Board (VSDB) was formed with a view to take this part of the State to a certain height. It is very shocking that for the last over eight months, the Board is functioning sans the appointments. I have to say it with a regret that this Government has no vision for Vidarbha,” slammed Mungantiwar. Reminding mediapersons about the Nagpur agreement which clearly states that at least one session of State Legislature should be held in Nagpur, Mungantiwar said, “Giving excuse of coronavirus, Government has taken a decision not to hold winter session this year in Nagpur. At the same time it said it would hold it in Mumbai. I have my own doubts whether it is willing to hold it in Mumbai also or not.” Bringing it to the notice of mediapersons that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have not visited any place in Vidarbha in last one year, Mungantiwar said, “It shows MVA’s careless approach towards Vidarbha.”

Those present at the press conference were Rajya Sabha Member Dr Vikas Mahatme, MLC and President of Nagpur City unit of Bharatiya Janata Party Pravin Datke, MLA Mohan Mate, MLA Krishna Khopde, MLC Girish Vyas, MLA Sameer Meghe, Leader of Ruling Party in Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Sandip Jadhav, Chairman of Law Committee of NMC Adv Dharmpal Meshram, State Spokesperson of BJP Vishwas Pathak, PRO of Nagpur city unit of BJP Chandan Goswami and others.
