Continuing a special campaign against land mafia, a combined team of police, district administration and Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC), razed the house and shop of listed criminal Monu alias Kanak Sonkar at Dangal Maidan in Khatik Mohalla area, on Sunday. The residence was constructed with an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore at around 14,000 square feet Government land amounting to Rs. 6 crores. It may be noted that under the direction of Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, police and district administration have started a special campaign against mafia and land mafia.
 
Compliance with the orders, District Magistrate and Collector, Karmveer Sharma and Superintendent of Police, released order for taking stern action against habitual criminal named Monu alias Kanak Sonkar. Police learnt that Mony Sonkar had illegally constructed a house and office amounting to Rs. 2 crores at around 14,000 square feet. It was learnt that Monu alias Kanak Sonkar (40), resident of Khatik Mohalla is a habitual criminal and booked in 37 sensitive crime cases include murder, attempting murder, bomb hurling, organized gambling, illegal manufacturing and trade of liquor.
 
Taking a serious note on criminal activities of Monu Sonkar, a combine team of Police, District Administration and Jabalpur Municipal Corporation led by Additional SP (City), Amit Kumar (IPS), SDM, Ashish Pandey, Tehsildar, Swati Surya, CSP, RD Bhawadwaj, CSP, Gohalpur, Akhilesh Gaur, DSP (Traffic), Madhukar Chowkikar, SHOs and police force of Belbagh, Kotwali, Madan Mahal, Cantt, Madhotal, Sanjeevani Nagar and anti-encroachment team of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation reached the spot and razed the illegal construction from Government land.
