With disappearance of cloud cover, maximum temperature took a plunge to pave way for bone biting cold conditions in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. With this, winter has set its foot in the State. Cold has also increased due to chilly winds arriving from Himalayan areas which have witnessed heavy snowfall. Chilly winds and shivering cold gave torrid time for people in Bhopal during day time. At public places such as bus stand and open market areas, people lit the bonfire to find relief from bone biting cold. Bhopal’s maximum temperature settled down at 21.4 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees below normal.
 
Its minimum temperature was 10.6 degrees Celsius and it was at normal level. Indore recorded maximum temperature at 21.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal. Its minimum temperature was 13 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. Jabalpur’s maximum temperature was 22.6 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal level. Its minimum temperature was 14.4 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees above normal. In crux, maximum temperature remains below normal level in state while night temperatures are at normal mark or above normal. Twelve stations recorded minimum temperature between six to ten degrees Celsius.
 
Lowest minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Nowgaon. Weather department forecast says that light to medium fog is likely in some places of Singhrauli, Satna, Umaria, Sagar, Chhattarpur, Tikamgarh, Ashok Nagar and Gwalior respectively. Weather department said that minimum temperatures will go downwards in eastern Madhya Pradesh.
