A property dealer was killed in Pachpaoli police station area on Thursday evening, over property related dispute. Acting swiftly, the cops arrested two accused. The deceased Mahesh alias Guddu Durgaprasad Tiwari (47), a resident of Ganeshpeth. He was a property dealer, and was also into moneylending. His brother Suresh Tiwari operates a parking stand ini District Court premises. According to police, Guddu Tiwari and one Vivek alias Abhinav Godbole (37), a resident of Sugat Nagar, had purchased a 5,000 sq ft plot along Manish Nagar Road. Of this, Tiwari had purchased 3,000 sq ft plot and had registered the deed. The deal for remaining 2,000 sq ft was done by Abhinav Godbole. On the piece of land purchased by him, Tiwari had started a restaurant. Abhinav Godbole thought that the entire 5,000 sq ft of land was being used by Tiwari.
He allegedly sought partnership in restaurant. However, Tiwari advised him to start his own shop in his side of plot. On Wednesday night, an argument ensued between both of them over telephone, over this issue. On Thursday, Abhinav Godbole went to meet Guddu Tiwari with a woman and took him home in the car to talk about the plot. After dropping his wife at home, Godbole took his friend Mohsin alias Kallu alias Pintu Kiledar (36), a resident of Mahendra Nagar, with him.
The trio -- Godbole, Tiwari, and Kiledar -- arrived at a roadside chinese food shop Sonu’s Chakna Centre in Shanichara Bazar in Kamal Chowk area. They bought liquor and consumed it for about three hours. When Tiwari was sozzled, Abhinav and Pintu attacked him with a knife and a beer bottle. There were 17 wounds on Tiwari’s body. He died on the spot. On being informed about the incident, Pachpaoli Police team led by Kishor Nagrale, Police Inspector, reached the spot. Tiwari was rushed to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), where doctors declared him dead. Acting swiftly, the cops arrested both the accused namely Vivek alias Abhinav Godbole and Mohsin alias Kallu alias Pintu Kildedar. According to police, during quizzing, Abhinav told the cops that the reason behind murder was property related dispute. Earlier also, a murder case was registered against Abhinav. He was accused of a murder in Mangalwari area, but was later acquitted from the case.
Meanwhile, deceased Tiwari’s relatives and friends gathered at IGGMCH on learning about his murder. They alleged that more persons were involved in the crime and demanded a high-level enquiry into the case. Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region), , and Lohit Matani, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-III, also visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
