DR SHARAD Suryawanshi, former international athlete and Nagpur District Athletics Association Secretary has been elected as the senior joint secretary of the Maharashtra Athletics Association (MAA) during the State body’s election held on Sunday. The 28-member jumbo body, which will be once again led by former Olympian and Arjuna Award winner Adille Sumariwalla, has been elected unanimously for a term of four years (2020-2024). Satish Uchil from Mumbai City has been retained as the secretary of the association. Another Vidarbha member representing Nagpur Zone Latit Jiwani (from Gondia) has been elected as the vice-president while Madhav Desai Shejul from Parbhani has been elected as the treasurer of the association.
 
Sunil Shinde was the election officer while Madhukant Pathak (Treasurer, Athletics Federation of India) and Balasaheb Landge (Secretary, Maharashtra Olympic Association) were the observers. The newly-elected body is as follows: President: Adille Sumariwalla (Mumbai City); Chairman: Abhay Chajjed (Pune); Vice-Presidents: Narayan Khadke (Nasik Zone), Gopalsingh Rajput (Amravati Zone), Sanjay Badole (Latur Zone), Balram Patil (Mumbai Zone), Latit Jiwani (Nagpur Zone), Sanjay Patil (Kolhapur Zone), Raju Pyati (Pune Zone), Srikant Joshi (Aurangabad Zone); Secretary: Satish Uchil (Mumbai City); Treasurer: Madhav Shejul (Parbhani); Senior Joint Secretary: Dr Sharad Suryawanshi (NagpurZone); Joint Secretaries: Suresh Farakte (Kolhapur Zone), Pankaj Balsakhale (Aurangabad Zone), Dinesh Bhalerao (Pune Zone), Atul Patil (Amravati Zone), Pralobh Kulkarni (Latur Zone), Ashok Aher (Mumbai Zone), Hemant Pande (Nasik Zone); Members: Rakesh Salve (Palghar), Rajeev Joshi (Nasik), Ranjitsingh Rane (Sindhudurg), Rajeev Kulkarni (Pune), Fulchand Salampure (Aurangabad).
