POSSIBILITY of a major fire mishap was averted at gas cylinders’ godown in Supeal, during early morning hours on Friday. At about 4 am on Friday, suddenly a fire broke out at the vehicles’ garage located near the go-down of gas cylinders of Rishi Gas Agency, Chandra Nagar, Supela, Bhilai. On getting information, a squad of fire fighters from Home Guard, Durg reached the troubled location immediately and doused the fire.

During early morning hours, all of a sudden fire broke out at a delivery van. However, the fire was extinguished after about an hour but the delivery van was reduced to scrap by that time. The garage belongs to Rishi Gas Agency and the delivery vans are parked in its garage. It could have been a major fire mishap as the gas cylinders go-down is located hardly at the ten-metre distance from the vehicles’ garage and at the time of fire mishap three delivery vans of the gas agency were parked in the garage.

However after reaching the spot the fire fighting squads of Home Guard swung into action and put out fire in minimum possible time while checking all possibility of its spreading further. The people from residential quartres in close vicinity of gas cylinder godown had vacated the houses and they remained away until fire was put out.

Station House Officer (SHO), Supela Police Station Sisodiya informed that the reason behind the fire mishap will be ascertained in course of investigation by expert agencies. Prima facie short circuit in power lines inside the garage might have triggered fire, SHO Sisodiya added.
