POLICIES for women empowerment has to be formed after actual interacting with them, and not by sitting in the AC rooms, said Anusuiya Uikey, Governor of Chhattisgarh. She was speaking as the chief guest during the inauguration of National Women Conclave organised by Sahakar Bharati, at Madhav Sabhagruha at Reshimbagh on Saturday.
The other guests were Shanta Akka, Rashtriya Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti; Dr Shashi Wanjari, Vice-Chancellor of SNDT University, Mumbai; Kanchan Gadkari, President of Receiving Committee of National Women Conclave; Shatabdi Pande, National President of Women Cell of Sahakar Bharati; Nilima Bawane, Convenor of Enclave; Ramesh Vaidya, National President of Sahakar Bharati and Uday Joshi, National General Secretary of Sahakar Bharati. Elaborating her journey from a volunteer Rashtra Sevika Samiti to the prestigious position of Governor of Chhattisgarh, Uikey said, tolerance, co-ordination, co-operation, faith, dedication and determination are the qualities which takes the women to the top position.
“I am still surprised to see myself as a Governor of Chhattisgarh. Helping women during their struggle was my only initiative that has brought me to this position,” Uikey said. “Women are born co-operative entrepreneurs and leaders. They are carrying their family activities on co-operation bases. Women must now expand boundaries of their work from house to other areas,” Uikey advised. She suggested that there was need of marketing the products of SHGs run by women.
Uikey also shared her experience of working as a member of National Women Commission during the regime of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee. “Look towards the actual problems of the women. By just donating them sewing machines or funds to start a small grocery shop is not enough for the women empowerment,” she pointed out. Shanta Akka giving example of how 5 women in village at Jaipur started their dairy and flourished it. She advised women to come out of their limitation. “You all are ‘Mata but you have to raise to become ‘Shree Mata’ which is possible by developing values and good habits, within you,” she suggested.
Dr Shashi Wanjari, Vice-Chancellor of SNDT Mumbai said women have the power of performing multi-tasks at a time. “The percentage of women entrepreneurs has increased to 10 per cent which was only 7 per cent in the year 2017,” she said. She advised Sahakar Bharati to take advantage of the new innovations and incubation centres coming up at universities. Shatabdi Pande threw light on the work of Sahakar Bharati in all areas. “Bin Sanskar Nahi Sahakar Va Bin Sahakar Nahi Uddhar,” Pande echoed the motto of Sahakar Bharati and advised the delegates to develop ethical values and transform it into the co-operative work, then only it will be successful. Kanchan Gadkari welcomed all the delegates and speakers.
“It is the proud moment for city in hosting the national conclave. New leadership and values will come out from the two days deliberations which the delegates can add to their personality,” she said. Nilima Bawane made the opening remarks and also proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Revati Shendurnikar. Pramiltai Medhe and Vijayatai Bhusari, senior members of Rashtra Sevika Samiti were felicitated. Dr Manisha Khotekar, Sanjay Pachpor, D S Thakur and Sudhakar Kulkarni addressed the sessions on day one. Vivek Jugade, organiser and team are taking efforts for the success of the event. More than 2,000 delegates from all over the country are attending the conclave.
