Contractor fined Rs 15,000 for misbehaving with Rly passenger

A railway passenger was badly manhandled by a staff at two-wheeler parking of Raipur Railway Station when the passenger brought a damage caused to his vehicle to the knowledge of operator staff on Thursday early morning, an FIR has been lodged with Government Railway Police. As per information received from Government Railway Police sources the victim Navin Chandra Chaturvedi (39), a resident of Changora Bhata kept his scooty at two wheeler stand of Raipur railway station on Wednesday morning and left for Bilaspur.
 
He returned on Thursday early morning by Geetanjali express at about 4:30 am and when he went to take his scooty he found that wind visor of his bike was broken due to mishandling of the vehicle. He brought the matter to the notice of the staff on duty at the stand in a very polite manner to which one youth Aakash alias Titu got angry. He closed the iron gate of the stand and came to him in aggression, abused and manhandled with the passenger.
 
The accused hit the victim several time and entire episode was recorded in CCTV Camera installed at the parking stand. Later the victim reported the matter with GRP. After medical analysis GRP lodge FIR under Section 294, 323 and 506 of IPC and investigating the matter. CCTV footage was recovered by GRP from the parking. Two Wheeler stand contractor Asif Memon told The Hitavada that the youth seen in CCTV footage manhandling the passenger was not a regular staff of parking. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Tanmay Mukhopadhyay informed that a fine of Rs 15,000 has been imposed on the contractor and a strict warning has been given.
 
He assured to keep a check over the criminal records of the on duty staff working in two wheeler parking and make sure that similar steps are not repeated in future. Passengers informed that use of abusive language, rude and inhuman behaviour of parking staff at Raipur Railway station is talk of the town. Every passenger who regularly or once used two wheeler parking at Raipur Railway station is well aware of their behaviour. Still, railway officials pay no attention towards the problem. As per information many complaints are made by passenger regarding parking every year but no positive action or black listing of contractor is done by the Railway Authority.
