AGITATED people came to streets in large numbers on Tuesday and staged rasta roko demanding death sentence to the accused Vikesh Nagrale (27) who set afire the lecturer (24) in Hinganghat on Monday. Women, school and college students registered their strong protest against the incident. It may be mentioned that Nagrale had set afire the lecturer in broad daylight when she was on her way to college on Monday. A huge morcha was taken out on sub divisional office premises. Police formed a human chain to prevent the mob from entering the SDO office.
 
But the angry people overpowered the cops and entered the SDO office. Chandrakant Khandait, SDO, met the agitators and accepted the memorandum. People demanded capital punishment for the accused. The crime incidents, especially illegal activities, are on the rise. Women and girls fear to step out of the house.
 
Concrete measures should be taken to maintain law and order situation in the town, stated the memorandum. Sameer Kunawar, MLA, Sudhir Kothari, former civic chief, Atul Wandile, MNS District President, Kiran Unkande, Raju Timande, former MLA, Ashok Shinde, Shiv Sena leader, Anil Javade, Pandhari Kapse, former civic chief, Sanjay Dehane, Dada Deshkari, Ashish Parvat, Akash Pahane, Latabai Ghavghave, Pradeep Joshi, Navin Bhagat, Gajanan Kubade of Prahar Sanghatna, Ankush Thakur, Shrikant Bhagat, Nilesh Thombre, Shankar Munjewar, Ashok Ramteke, Mohammad Rafiq and large number of people participated in the morcha.
 
Dharna was staged at many places in the city on Tuesday. SAMUDRAPUR: A huge morcha was taken out to condemn the incident here on Tuesday. Students of Vidya Vikas Mahavidyalya, Muktabai Vidyalaya, Vikas Vidyalaya and Sanskar Dnyanpeeth, along with leaders and activists of BJP, Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP, Prahar, RPI, teachers, lecturers, principals, councillors, youths and others largely participated in the agitation.

The 24-year-old unmarried lecturer who was brought from Primary Health Centre, Hinganghat by Hinganghat police to Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute with history of attempt to burn her alive in front of her academic Institution is critical. Though she has 35 to 40% burn injuries over scalp, face, right upper limb, left hand, upper back, full neck, she has inhaled high temperature fumes because of which she sustained inhalational injury. She underwent tracheostomy, burn dressing, debridement and escharectomy. Her provisional diagnosis is 35-40% Grade III deep dermal burns with respiratory distress.
 
She is presently holding vital parameters with oxygen supports of 5 litre/ min and under critical care monitoring. In view of her very critical condition, prognosis has been repeatedly explained to her accompanying relatives and police personnel. Meanwhile Maharashtra Minister of Animal Husbandry Sunil Kedar, Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut, MLA Hinganghat Samir Kunnawar visited the hospital to confirm her progress and expressed satisfaction on the timely comprehensive line of treatment being provided at OCHRI. Vivek Bhimanwar, Collector, Wardha and Dr P.D. Madavi, Civil Surgeon, Wardha are obtaining regular update of her status. She is admitted under care of Dr Darshan Rewanwar- Burns and Plastic Surgeon backed by Dr Rajesh Atal- Critical Care Physician, Dr Sidharth Saoji- ENT Surgeon, Dr Abhay Agashe- Ophthalmologist, Dr Ninad Gawande- Medico-legal Specialist.
 
Dr Roshan Jawlekar, Dr Akshay Burlawar, Dr Sheetal Chauhan and Dr Ritesh Sawadh- Intensivists are stationed 24X7 monitoring girl’s health along with assistance of Dr Kavita Dhurvey, SMO Incharge- Surgery. Sr. Nilima Turankar- WSS is leading the team of nursing and paramedical personnel for her care. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Government on Tuesday flew a burns specialist doctor to Nagpur, where a college teacher from Wardha district who was set on fire by a stalker is battling for life.
 
Home Minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted that Sunil Keswani, a specialist from the Navi Mumbai-based National Burns Centre, was accompanying him to Nagpur to supervise the treatment of the victim. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked the police to ensure that the accused was convicted. Thackeray took a serious note of the incident, a statement from his office said, adding that expenses of the woman’s treatment would be borne from the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund.
