Ujjwal Nikam appointed Public Prosecutor in Hinganghat case

Maharashtra Government has appointed well-known lawyer Adv Ujjwal Nikam as special public prosecutor in the case related to the incident where a 25-year-old woman lecturer was set on fire by a stalker. State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh during his visit to Orange City Hospital where the lecturer is undergoing treatment, had announced Adv Nikam to be appointed and case to be run in fast track court.

Deshmukh on Friday tweeted, ‘Ujjwal Nikam would be the public prosecutor’. In his tweet he further made it clear that all legal expenses would be borne by the State Government. He also made an appeal to people to pray for the victim’s recovery. Nikam was the special prosecutor in some high-profile cases including the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
