Nagpur ICAI gets ‘Regional 2nd Best Branch Award’

The Nagpur branch of Western India Regional Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India was awarded as second Best Branch of Western Region of ICAI. The award was distributed by President of ICAI CA Prafulla Chajjed at Mumbai. This glittering function was held in the presence of CA Priti Savla, Chairperson WIRC, Vice chairman WIRC CA Umesh Sharma, Secretary WIRC Rakesh Alshi, Treasurer WIRC CA Yashwant Kasar AND Regional Council Member CA Abhijit Kelkar. The function was held in Mumbai. During the year 2019-20 under the Chairmanship of CA Suren Duragkar, the Branch organized more than 500 programmes successfully.

The branch has organised various seminars, lecture meets, conferences, workshops, training programmes, remodeled and redesigned study circle, intensive study courses, certificate courses and interactive meeting concentrating on practical exposure and expertise for the members. “Gurucool” the mentoring programme for young Chartered Accountants was very well appreciated by the members. A host of academic programmes were organised with focus on emerging areas of practice, knowledge enhancing and professional enrichment.

On the social responsibility front, the Nagpur Branch had organised eye check up camp, blood donation camp and tree plantation during the year. A visit to orphanage was also organised by WICASA to distribute hearing aids kits for education to deaf and dumb students of the society was among the initiatives undertaken during the year. Reacting to the award former Chaairman of the Branch Duragkar, said that the plethora of activities undertaken successfully by the Nagpur Branch was a result of team work as well as motivation, support and co-operation from all the members and students throughout the year.

He congratulated and thanked Past President ICAI CA Ashok Chandak and CA Jaydeep Shah, CA Abhijit Kelkar, RCM, Past Vice Chiarman of WIRC CA Julfesh Shah, all Past Chairmen of Nagpur Branch and all senior members for their guidance along with all Managing Committee Members – Chairman CA Kirit Kalyani, Secretary CA Saket Bagdia, Treasurer CA Jiten Saglani, WICASA Chairman CA Sanjay Agrawal, Executive Committee Members CA Akshay Gulhane and CA Harish Rangwani for their active support during the year. He further thanked all the members and students for their active support and encouragement throughout the year. He also assured that the current year shall again be an eventful one with host of activities being organized by the Branch for Members & Students throughout the year.
