City on Thursday paid rich tributes to Yashwantrao Chavan to mark his 107th birth anniversary. Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan alias Y B Chavan born on March 12, 1913 was the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the division of Bombay State and the fifth Deputy Prime Minister of India. He was a staunch Congress pioneer, co-agent pioneer, social dissident and journalist. He was famous as Leader of Common People. He bolstered social majority rule Government in his discourses and articles and was instrumental in making co-agents in Maharashtra for the well-being of the farmers. Many institutions in city paid rich tributes to late Yashwantrao Chavan on his 107th birth anniversary on Thursday.
Commissionerate Deputy Commissioner (EGS) Manisha Jaybhaye garlanded the portrait of Yashwantrao Chavan at the office premises and paid tributes. Deputy Commissioner (Planning), Dhananjay Sute; Assistant Commissioner, Shailesh Meshram (Divisional Inquiry); Assistant Commissioner, Sunil Nikam (Development) were also present. NMC Deputy Mayor Manisha Kothe garlanded the statue of late Yashwantrao Chavan at Ajni Square and paid tributes. Dilip Pankule, Madhukar Bhavsar, Charajit Singh Chaudhari, Rajesh Tiwari, Sopanrao Sirsath, Machchindra Awale, Rajesh Tembhurne and others were also present. Similarly, a programme to pay tributes to Late Yashwantrao Chavan was held at the hall of New Administrative Building of NMC. Additional Commissioner, Ram Joshi garlanded the portrait of Chavan.
Deputy Commissioners, Rajesh Mohite; Nirbhay Jain, Mahesh Morone; Assistant Commissioner, Mahesh Dhamecha; Education Officer, Preeti Mishrikotkar; fire officer, Rajendra Uchake; animal Husbandry Officer, Dr Gajendra Mahalle; library superintendent, Alka Gawande; PRO Manish Soni, Assistant PRO, Pradeep Khardenawis, Dilip Tandale and others were also present. MSEDCL A programme to pay tributes to Yashwantrao Chavan was held at Regional Director’s Office at Katol Road. Regional Director, Dilip Ghugal garlanded the portrait of Yashwantrao Chavan. General Manager (Accounts and Finance)l Sharad Dahekar; Superintendent Engineer, Umesh Sahare, Narayan Amzare, Rakesh Janbandhu, Avinash Sahare, Deputy General Manager (IT), Pramod Khule, Executive Engineer, Rajendra Giri were also present. NCP Workers of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) celebrated jayanti of Yashwantrao Chavan at a function organised at the statue of Chavan at Ajni Chowk here on Thursday.
Dilip Pankule, State Secretary, Deenanath Padole, former legislator, Devidas Ghode, Tatyasaheb Mate, Madhukar Bhavsar and Papa Avadhesh Yadav offered floral tributes to the statue to mark the occasion. Addresisng the gathering, Pankule said that Chavan was a multi-faceted personality , who worked for betterment of farmers, workers, farmers and other weaker sections of society adding that his dedication earned him fame. Vijay Masram, Rajesh Tembhurne, Vasantrao Ghatate, Prashant Bhosale, Charanjitsingh Choudhary, Sangram Panbkule, Pramod Wankar and others were present. Collectorate Deputy Collector Ravindra Kumbhare garlanded the portrait of Yashwantrao Chavan and paid tributes. Deputy Collector, Sujata Gandhe; Rajlaxmi Shah and many other officers and employees were also present.
