Raipur’s Kalpit Agrawal tops Electronics and Communication stream of GATE 2020

Kalpit Agrawal of Raipur secured first position in All India Ranking (AIR) in Electronics and Communication stream of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 with 997 marks out of 1,000. The results were declared by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi on Friday evening.
Son of retired BSNL employee Pramod Agrawal and homemaker Suman Agrawal, Kalpit passed out his engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication from Bhilai Institute of Technology (BIT), Durg in 2018. “I love electronics. I do not study my subjects to clear the exam but to understand. I study each topics in depth,” said Kalpit.
“I started preparing for GATE in my third year of engineering in GATE Academy Bhilai. I practiced a lot and gave several mock tests. I used to study for 10 to 12 hours a day but it was never a burden for me, rather it was more of a mind booster for me,” he added.
In last one year, he appeared in 82 mock tests to prepare for this examination, which is considered one of the toughest examinations in country, along with CAT as well as UPSC.
Other than studying engineering books, Kalpit also reads books of marketing and did part time job of sales with his college friends.
Kalpit gave the entire credit of his success to his parents for being so supportive, the faculties of GATE Academy for clearing doubts and mock tests. He wants to do postgraduate in Integrated Circuit and System from any one of IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru.
