‘Women should take problems as challenges’

MSME-DI, Nagpur in association with GIZ recently conducted one-day workshop on “Women Entrepreneurship Development ” as a part of International Women’s Day celebration. Dr Priti Manmode was the chief guest of the programme. Ketki Arbat of Krims Hospital, Nagpur, P M Parlewar, Director, MSME-DI, Nagpur presided over the programme.
 
Dr Ravi Aher, GIZ, and Sachin Jain, Secretary, MIDC Industries Association Hingna, Nagpur were also present on the dais during the programme. In his presidential address, Parlewar welcomed all the women participants and informed them that in the present scenario women entrepreneurs can play significant important role in the country’s economy. “They can improve the economy,” he said adding that MSME-DI, Nagpur organises special skill development and various programmes exclusively for women. There is lack of awareness amongst women entrepreneurs about the schemes offered by MSME-DI. There are schemes and incentives available for women in MSME.
 
He appealed to all the participants to take maximum advantage of the programme and MSME is always ready to help them for starting their own ventures. Parlewar said that while starting an enterprise there will be problems and obstacles definitely. “But women should take problems as a challenge by giving more stress on skill development. When women would become successful entrepreneurs it would boost their self confidence ultimately leading in the development of the nation. One of the qualities required for successful entrepreneur is risk taking ability. And women are big risk takers. They can manage several things at a time and they are good managers,” he said. Dr Manmode said that this is the right time that women should come forward in entrepreneurship because women have good managerial skills they are stronger than men and have greater risk taking ability.
 
All these qualities are needed to become a successful entrepreneur. She stressed that it is the responsibility of the society as a whole to encourage women to become self sufficient by becoming financially independent. Dr Aher motivated the women participants and spoke on women empowerment on how to increase the percentage of women in MSME sector. He said that the real tribute to women will be achieved when women will become educated and financially independent.
 
One of the qualities required for successful entrepreneur is risk taking ability. Ketki Arbat motivated the women participants through her power point presentation. She said that women should be ready and prepared for hard work as there is no shortcut to success. She said in the field of entrepreneurship more emphasis should be given on quality of the product. She appreciated MSME-DI Nagpur for organizing such type of programmes which definitely are beneficial to the existing and prospective women entrepreneurs of Vidarbha. The programme was co-ordinated by Rahul Mishra, Assistant Director MSME-DI, Nagpur and also proposed the formal vote of thanks.
