Onlookers throng the truck that hit four vehicles on Manewada ring road on Friday.

A truck laden with sand hit four vehicles on Manewada ring road under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station on Friday morning. PSI Pankaj Nilkanthe of Hudkeshwar police station informed that the incident occurred at 6.30 am when the truck (MH-40/BG-4552) was heading towards Manewada square from Mhalgi Nagar square. A Star bus came from Omkar Nagar area in great speed and turned on the ring road near Tapasya High School. As a result, the truck driver applied brakes and turned the vehicle in the direction of footpaths.
The truck hit the star bus from behind and rammed into a Mahindra SUV, Bajaj Discover motorcycle, Honda Twister motorcycle and Honda CD 100 motorcycles. A large number of onlookers gathered at the spot following the accident. Staff of Hudkeshwar police station rushed to the spot and arrested the truck driver identified as Atul Bhaskar Bhivankar (24), a resident of Khalasana, Kalamna, Kuhi. According to Hudkeshwar police, the truck was taken at the hospital. As per medical report, he was not driving vehicle under the influence of liquor. An offence under Sections 279 and 427 of Indian Penal Code read with Sections 184 and 177 of Motor Vehicle Act.
